I would like to again thank you and your group for the donations to the Women's Center and Tuzla school. The women and children who received these items were grateful. In addition, this was a very rewarding experience for my soldiers.

The director of the women's center stated that this was only the second time SFOR soldiers had been in her neighborhood. Seeing soldiers do so much good in this community greatly enhanced the image of SFOR and makes our job of peace support much easier. It is a great thing when people associate a military with high standards, discipline, and compassionate fairness rather than the brutality that many of the victims in the women's center had experienced. The children were especially fascinated with our soldiers.
We had several female soldeirs with us, and the children were drawn to them - still uncomfortable around men in uniforms but I believe learning to overcome some of their fear of the military with our friendly female soldiers.

Delivering the school supplies was probably even more beneficial for my soldiers than the students. We were invited to have coffee with the teachers and principal of the school. Seeing the names and faces and genuine gratitude among the Bosnian people made it so much easier for my soldiers to be away from their families. For the first time, my
soldiers understood why we are here and how much we have to offer the local
community.

Again, I would like to thank you for all of your support. The school system is still inadequately funded and in great need of school supplies. I hope to have my Family Readiness Group in Texas work to collect school supplies and hope you will continue with your efforts to support these organizations in Bosnia.
I was having trouble with my camera, so some of the pictures are fuzzy. I hope they capture a little of the experience we all had that day.
